Reading
Until Thanksgiving Break the students will be reviewing asking
question before, during and after reading. The students are also observing how
illustrations help a reader convey the mood the author is trying to set with
the text.
Writing
The students are continuing to write in the genre of
non-fiction. They are currently working on feature articles. After study Time for
Kids Magazine the students observed how different text features are used to
convey non-fiction information. The students are using the information they collected
last week to write a feature article based on an animal of their choice.
Social
Studies
The students are starting a social studies unit on map skills.
In the next few weeks students will learn the cardinal directions, how to read
a map key and finding different places on the map. The students will also learn
the states which border Missouri.
