The students complete summaries for their folktale book reports. Each students shared their summary with the class which included the characters, theme, setting, conflict, resolution and favorite part of the book.

Next week we will continue to look at non-fiction text features with our science unit on life cycles. In reading we will also work with fluency when ready poetry.

Math

Today the students took their Unit 6 test. On Monday we will go over the answers for the tests and they will come home with the students on Tuesday. The Unit 7 parents guide will also come home on Tuesday. Unit 7 focuses of multiplication and division facts and patterns.

Writing

The 3 items from their brown bag narrative writing will come home today. The students used these items to help them write the introduction paragraph and the body paragraphs for their five paragraph narrative essay. Next week they will write their conclusion paragraph and start the editing process. By the end of the week they will have a edited copy of their narrative essay ready to share.

Science:
This week the students examined the common steps in any plant life cycle. We concluded every plants starts from a seed or spore. Then the plant must grow and mature until it is ready to produce new seeds or spores. Next week we will be looking at a variety of non-fictions texts to look at the life cycles of both plants and animals.

THANK YOU FOR THE GUM DONATIONS! I am still collecting sugar free bubble gum to give as the reward for the multiplication math.

Have a great weekend,

Mrs. Ray
